Had a great time capturing Kim’s 30th Birthday party at the Maya in Long Beach! Everyone was so nice and easy to work with! Kim is a friend from Your Next Victory Fitness in Long Beach. We regularly subject ourselves to murderous workouts on the bluffs in Long Beach at 6am. The party had a fantasy costume theme, and everyone arrived in full regalia. Almost forgot to mention Belly Dancers & Fire Dancers which were amazing! Beautiful details and super stylized location at the Maya. Big thanks to the Maya’s all star catering manager Alicia Vasquez for all her hard work, and to Mollie Bennett of Hoopla event design for making every detail perfect.

As always Enjoy the images!

Chris

Here is a link to Aileen and Matt’s highlight reel from their southern california wedding

Had a blast photographing Aileen and Matt’s long beach wedding at the Hyatt Long Beach. It was a beautiful spring wedding starting at the Hyatt Long Beach, then moving locations to the Japanese Gardens at California State Long Beach. The Ceremony was really beautiful in the garden. After signing their Marriage license, we headed out to photograph the bride and groom in downtown long beach. The more Urban look would prove to be a nice compliment to tranquil Japanese Garden setting. Their wedding album is going to rock! I can’t wait to design it!

Had the pleasure of working with Onita and Mike last Saturday at the McCharles House in old town Tustin. The images really sing! I love the old Victorian Charm at McCharles House. A big thanks to Vivian and Mary from Jays Catering for putting together such a beautiful event. Rogers Gardens also did a beautiful job with the flowers and Bouquets.

Here are a few of my favorite wedding images from McCharles House in Tustin.

Thanks

Chris

Today was my first time making portraits at the UCLA Japanese gardens. I plan on returning for another portrait session or wedding very soon. Anita and Scott are going to flip when they see the entire session! The Hannah Japanese garden is incredibly lush and dense, with opportunity for incredible images everywhere! You can see a few more examples of other gardens on my main website.

Here is a sneak peak.

Kate and Grant, my Colorado couple! I had a fantastic time finally getting to meet Grant during our portrait session in Laguna Beach last week. Also really looking forward to their wedding at crystal cove state park in april. Our photo session was super casual and laid back. I was really focusing on different textures at the beach like rocks, sand, and different formations in the tide pools. Since both Kate and Grant our Geologists, I’m sure the images won’t fall on blind eyes.

I had the pleasure, and pain of running in my 4th Pacific shoreline 1/2 marathon Starting at the Huntington Beach hyatt regency on superbowl sunday. My training was decent, but my 3 month old Graham did have something to say about daddy getting out for every training run. Most importantly it was a blast until mile 10 or 11, when it turned into a bit of a slog. I always forget how tough Half Marathons get in the last third of the race. The amount of effort it takes to maintain a hard pace just starts to skyrocket around mile 9 or 10. I always like to set challenging goals for myself, and this was once again very tough. However, the pain will soon be forgotten and replaced with dare I say anxiety. The distance I have been skirting since my running inception 4 years ago. Da dah dah dahhhhhhh.
The big daddy i.e. LA MARATHON in March. Next summers clients Pray my legs don’t fall off:)

Here is the statistical skinny from the race

My Goal was to run 13.1 miles in 1:35. I found it was much easier to write my splits on my water bottle than actually hit the tape that fast:)

Chris Griffiths Long Beach, CA
Total time 1:41:12 pace of 7:44 per mile
81st place out of 645 Men 30-34 years old.

  • Go job Chris! That race must of been pretty brutal. My wife and I rode to the HB pier and back just after it ended (should have left earlier) … but it was cool to ride in the middle of PCH while it was closed off :) .

We should try to do the pendleton mud run together this summer. Its a total trip!

Really looking forward to shooting Melaura and Donny’s wedding in San Gabriel later this year. We decided to hit the beach for a portrait session in Laguna beach at Sunset last week. We started at 7 Degrees in Laguna canyon and slowly made our way into Laguna Beach proper for some cool shots reflecting the laid back lifestyle and unique architecture. We then moved down to the beach for some great dramatic portraits in the tidepools as the sun set.

Enjoy

Chris

Super fun engagement session with Aileen and Matt right in my backyard at the historic rancho los alamitos historic ranch right next to long beach state university.
I’m really looking forward to photographing their upcoming wedding at the Japanese Gardens in Long Beach just a few blocks away! The images look great! Can’t wait to design their engagement album!

Well not really local style I guess. Yes, all the locations we photographed on the day of the wedding were within 4 miles of my house. That felt a little strange. Almost like I was running errands all day as we whisked from location to location. Jenn and Sean were a blast to work with! They chose pictures over tradition. We put together a great first meeting and portrait session at a local golf course. The results speak for themselves. Super fun group of baseball/softball players in the bridal party were ready to have fun! Jenn and Sean were definitely super-charged up as well. The grand in long beach held a beautiful evening ceremony, and very classy reception.

Just a couple of my favs from the wedding day! Much Much more to come.
